How to Upgrade Product in vRSLCM Step by Step

In vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager you can create environment , add multiple products & you can manage them easily from single pane. In this post we will see on How to Upgrade Product in vRSLCM Step by Step.

If you are using vRSLCM or vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager then whenever new version of any product or solution gets announced, you plan for upgrade. Upgrade of product in vRSLCM is quite simple & straight forward task where within few clicks you can easily upgrade all the products in your environment.

In our environment we have vROPS already deployed using vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager. So we will upgrade it to the latest version so you can see how upgrade works.

How to Install vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager Step by Step ?

So let’s see how to upgrade product in vRSLCM Step by Step :

Step 1:
Login to vRealize Suite Lifecycle manager.

Step 2:
Select the Lifecycle Operations under My Services.

Step 3:
Go to Environments from the left navigation.
Click on View details in your Environment.

Step 4:
Here you will see your product & it’s details in vRSLCM.
Click on Upgrade to upgrade to product.

Step 5:
Before Upgrade it is always recommended that you have backup of your existing solution.
vRSLCM allows you to take snapshot before you perform upgrade.
Click Proceed to upgrade.

Step 6:
You will see the latest available version of your product. If you have multiple versions than you can also select from the drop down.
Click Next to continue.

Step 7:
Before upgrading it is always recommended to Run Assessment test so that any issues which may occur post upgrade can be avoided.
Click Run Assessment.

Step 8:
It will take few seconds to complete. Once completed you will get the report.
Click Next to continue.

Step 9:
Here you must perform the Pre-checks before starting the actual upgrade so that your upgrade goes smooth without any errors.
Click Run Precheck.

Step 10:
You will see the results of the pre checks once it is completed.
If all pre checks are passed than we are good to go for upgrade.
Click Next to continue.

Step 11:
Verify & review the upgrade details of your product.
Click Submit to submit the request of upgrade.

You will see that Upgrade is started & it will take time according to your environment.

Once it is completed, you will see both the stages of upgrade is completed.

That’s it, Using this way you can easily upgrade product or solution in your existing environment of vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager. vRSLCM is a quite useful tool if you are planning to deploy vRealize Suite in your environment.
