How to Integrate VMware Skyline into vCenter Server

VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics is a self-service diagnostics platform. It helps in the detection of issues and provides remediation steps for vSphere & Supported solutions. In this post, we will learn How to Integrate VMware Skyline into vCenter Server.

With the release of vCenter Server 8.1, You can now integrate VMware Skyline with vCenter Server. So that you can easily perform tasks from within vCenter Server. You don’t need to separately login to VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics Appliance.

Integration of VMware Skyline with vCenter is done using the vSphere plugin in Skyline. In that, you have to configure your vCenter credentials. We will show you how you can easily do it in this post.

What is VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics ?

When you log in to vCenter Server, You will see Skyline Health Diagnostics in the left navigation bar.

If you haven’t deployed the VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics Appliance you can do it from here.

If you have already deployed VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics in your vSphere then follow below steps:

Step 1:
Login to VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics Appliance.
Go to Settings Tab.
Select vSphere Plugin Registration from left navigator.
Click on Plus icon.

Step 2:
Provide vCenter IP or FQDN.
Enter vCenter Credentials.
Click Submit.

Step 3:
You will see that vSphere Plugin is successfully registered.

Step 4:
Now you will see VMware Skyline Health Diagnostics under Plugins section in vCenter Server.

As you can see that our Integration of VMware Skyline with vCenter Server is successful & you can now explore it further.
This is the Welcome page which you will get every time.

Using Tasks section you can run Diagnostics & Health checks.
You can also see the tasks status as well as past tasks.

Reports section will show you all the generated reports so that you can easily export the reports.

Using this way you can easily Integrate VMware Skyline into vCenter Server by configuring vSphere Plugin. So that every time you don’t have to login to Skyline Appliance for any tasks or reports. It can be simply done from vCenter Console.

Note: Integration is only supported on vCenter Server 8.0 Update 1 and above versions.
