VMware vSphere Replication allows you to replicate your virtual machines so that in case of disaster or data loss you can easily recover your virtual machines with all the data. it is one of the simple data protection solution which doesn’t require any complex configuration. In this post we will see on how to install vSphere Replication 8.5 step by step.
VMware vSphere Replication is a hypervisor-based, asynchronous replication solution for vSphere virtual machines. It is fully integrated with VMware vCenter Server and the vSphere Web Client. vSphere Replication delivers flexible, reliable and cost-efficient replication.
Let’s see How to Install vSphere Replication Step by Step :
First you must download vSphere Replication Appliance ISO image from VMware Portal.
We need to deploy the vSphere Replication OVF Appliance in vCenter Server.
Login to vCenter Server.
Select Host & cluster > Right click > Deploy OVF Template.
Deploy OVF wizard will open.
Select Local file & click on Upload Files to upload vSphere Replication Appliance files & click Next to continue.
You need to mount downloaded ISO.
Go to bin directory.
Select below files which must be uploaded in order to deploy the Appliance.
Provide the name for your vSphere Replication VM & select location for virtual machine.
Select the Host or cluster where you want to deploy vSphere Replication Appliance.
Click Next to continue.
You will see the details about the vSphere Replication Appliance. Click Next to continue.
Read & Accept the license agreement and click Next.
Select the deployment configuration based on your requirement 2 vCPU or 4 vCPU.
Select the storage for the appliance deployment. You can also specify the virtual disk format.
Select the network for vSphere Replication Appliance.
It is recommended to use the static IP Address so choose the IP Allocation as static.
Configure the Networking settings for the vSphere Replication Appliance and other required configuration.
Set the Root & admin user password.
Review all the configuration and click Finish to deploy the vSphere Replication Appliance.
vSphere Replication Appliance deployment will take few minutes to complete.
Once it is deployed you will see VM created & is powered off.
