VMware Workstation comes with many more useful features are available in VMware Workstation which you can try out. VMware Workstation can be installed on Windows as well as Linux Operating Systems. You just have to make sure to have Virtualization enabled features in your CPU.
In this post we will see on How to Install VMware Workstation in CentOS Step by Step:
Download the VMware Workstation bundle from VMware Website and Copy to your system.
Before starting with Installation we have to provide permissions to execute the file.
Provide below permission by entering the command:
chmod a+x VMware-Workstation-Full-15.0.2-10952284.x86_64.bundle
Now if you see that Bundle is highlighted in Green Color so we can start the installation. Run the bundle by entering below command:
You will get the VMware Workstation Installer wizard.
Accept the License agreement for the VMware Workstation and Click Next.
Accept the License agreement for the VMware OVF Tool component and Click Next.
Select whether you want to check for Product Updates for VMware Workstation on system startup.
You can join VMware Customer Experience Improvement Program here by selecting Yes.
Provide the User which will connect to workstation. You can add additional users later also.
Set the Directory for the shared virtual machines. This directory will be used to store virtual machines and its data.
Provide the Port to use for HTTPS access to Workstation. you can go with default port 443.
Enter the License key for VMware Workstation.
This is optional step you can add the license later also.
Click Install to start the Installation of VMware Workstation.
It will take few minutes to install VMware Workstation.
Once installation is completed.
Click Close to exit the wizard.
If you haven’t added license key before then when you open VMware Workstation you will be asked to Enter license key to sue the product but if you don’t have you can try it out for 30 days.
You can open the VMware Workstation and create the virtual machines for your testing.
Below are some of the common errors you might get:
So you can run below command to install GCC :
yum groupinstall "Development tools"
So you can run below command:
yum install kernel-headers
if the above error still appears then you can run below command:
yum install kernel-devel
Now you can easily start your VMware Workstation and create and test virtual machines.
