How to install vCSA 6 Step by Step ?

VMware vCSA is an Appliance of vCenter server which is alternative option to Windows vCenter server. VMware vCSA 6.0 is the latest version of Appliance. It is most robust & scalable. vCSA provides the same options provided by windows based vCenter Server.

Note: VMware vCSA requires minimum 8GB of RAM in ESXi host to deploy successfully.

VCSA Installation Step by Step :-

Step 1:
Download the vCSA ISO from VMware.
Mount iso to CD/DVD drive.
First you have to install the VMware Client Integration Plugin which you can find in CD/DVD > vcsa folder

Step 2:
Click on the vcsa-setup.html to start the process it will open the browser & ask for VMware client integration plugin if already installed you will get below screen.


Step 3:
Click Install to proceed.


Step 4:

Accept the license agreement & Click Next to proceed.


Step 5:

Provide the Target server where you want to deploy vCSA which will be your ESXi server.
Provide the FQDN or IP.
Provide the Username & Password.
Click Next to proceed.


Step 6:

It will show the Certificate Warning check & verify  your SHA1 thumbprint & press Yes to accept.


Step 7:

Provide the Appliance Name.Default user is root.
Provide the Password.
Click Next to proceed.

Step 8:

Choose the Deployment Type.
You can either install Embedded vCenter server with Platform service controller or You can choose the External.
Click Next to proceed.


Step 9:

Setup Single Sign-On .
You can create new or you can join SSO domain to your existing vCenter Server.
Choose Create new SSO & provide the details such as SSO password, SSO Domain & SSO Site Name.
Click Next to proceed.

Step 10:

Choose the Appliance Size according to your virtual infrastructure & Click Next to proceed.


Step 11:

Choose the datastore for vCSA.
You can either choose local datastore or you can choose SAN,NAS or any other you have. Check the box enable Thin Disk Mode & Click Next to proceed.


Step 12:

Configure the Database.
You can either use embedded database (PostgresSQL) or you can use Oracle Database.
Click Next to proceed.


Step 13:

Network Settings.
Provide the Network configuration such as IP, FQDN, Subnet Mask, Gateway, DNS Server.
You can also configure Time Sync with esxi or provide the NTP Server.




Step 14:
Here review & verify all the configuration you have done before starting the installation & click Finish to start the Installation.


Step 15:

You have successfully installed vCSA.
Click Close to close the installer.



That’s it You have successfully installed vCSA.
You can access the web client using the Link provided in the completion window.
For e.g
https://ServerName or IP/vSphere-client
