In last post of this series of vRealize Operations Manager we looked on how you can generate reports from the default templates available. In this we will see on how to create custom report basically we will be creating custom template in vRealize Operations Manager. Once you create template then you can use that template anytime to generate reports of your requirement.
Reports in vRealize Operations Manager provides complete visibility, configuration and inventory of your vSphere Infra. There are many useful default templates available which are more then enough for any reports but in case if you want to generate any specific reports then that also you can do by creating custom report based on your requirement. In this post we will see on how you can create custom reports in vROPS.
So let’s see How to create custom reports in vRealize Operations Manager Step by Step:
Login to vRealize Operations Manager.
Go to Dashboards Tab.
You can see various Report Templates are available.
Click on Green Plus icon to create custom report Template.
Custom Report Template wizard will open here.
Specify Name and Description for the Template so that you can identify it easily.
Click on Views and Dashboards.
Select the View for your Report.
Views shows the collected information for the specified object.
There are many predefined views are available. So you can select view.
In Formats tab you can specify in which you want to your reports to be generated.
There are 2 Format available PDF and CSV. Select the Format which you require.
Click Layout Options.
In Layout you can add some graphical representations your reports such as Cover Page, Table of Contents and Footer.
Select which layout option you want to add into report template.
Click Save to create Template.
Now you can see that your custom report template is created successfully.
To generate report select the template and click Icon as shown.
Here we have to specify on which Object we want to run and generate report.
You can select whole vCenter, Datacenter or individual clusters as well.
Select the object and click OK.
Now go to Generated Reports Template to view the generated reports.
You can download your report in PDF and CSV.
Below is the sample of the Report which we have created and generated:
Using this way you can easily create your own report templates based on the information you require from vSphere Infra so that once template is created you can generate reports.
If you don’t want to go for custom report template then you can use default templates which are already available and you can generate reports from that.
