SRM: How to Pair sites in Site Recovery Manager

Site Pairing is an simple process of pairing 2 sites in the SRM. This is the first step you will have to do when you install SRM. Site Pairing is done between the sites where you want to use the Site Recovery Manager. If you are only using DC and DR Site then you will have to pair DC site with the DR site. Once you pair the sites successfully, you can see the both site status. Site Pairing requires Platform service controller hostname, username and password.

Before starting with Site Pairing make sure that you have successfully Installed SRM at both the sites and you can access it. Make sure your NTP Server is working and Time sync is proper.

Let’ see how to Pair sites in Site Recovery Manager step by step:

Step 1:
Login to vSphere web client.
Click on Site Recovery Plugin.

Step 2:
You will see Site Recovery Manager status.
Click Open Site Recovery to open the Site Recovery Manger wizard.

Step 3:
Click on “New Site Pair” to pair the site.

Step 4:
For Pairing site you will require platform service controller details.
Provide your Second Site Details such as PSC Name, Username and Password.
Click Next.

Step 5:
You will get security warning, click Connect to accept the certificate and continue.

Step 6:
You can see details of your sites here.
Select the vCenter Server which you want to Pair with Primary site.
Select the services of vSphere Replication and SRM to Pair.
Click Next to continue.

Step 7:
You will get security warning, click Connect to accept the certificate and continue.

Step 8:
Review the site pair details and click Finish to Pair Sites.

Once the Pairing is done, you will see site paired below.
Click on View Details to view site details.

Provide the credentials for the site and click Login to continue.

Once you login you will see Summary section which will show the Site details and status of the sites.

Using this way you can easily pair your DC and DR Sites in your environments.  In the Next post we will see on How to configure Inventory Mappings.
