How to Increase datastore size ?

Hello guys in previous posts how we can add the NFS & iSCSI Datastore for using it as shared datastore between multiple hosts but after adding when we want to increase the size so this post will help you on how you can increase the size of datastore.

So let’s check how you can increase the datastore size step by step.

Increase Datastore Size:-

Step 1:
Logon to vSphere Web Client.
Choose the Storage option from Home.

Step 2:
Choose your datastore for which you want to increase the size.
Click on Manage Tab.
Choose Settings.
Choose General option.
Here you can see your datastore capacity & free size available.
Click on Increase button as shown to increase the capacity.

Step 3:
Increase Datastore capacity wizard will open here.
Choose your Device on which you want to increase.
Click Next to proceed.

Step 4:
Click on Drop-down of Partition Configuration & choose your configuration.
Just below you can see the Increase Size by option here either you can specify the size or you can choose by moving triangle.
You can also see the Partition Layout.
You will see just below the Capacity & Free Space available after increasing the size.
Click Next to proceed.

Step 5:
Here you can see all the changes you have done.
Just recheck all the settings & click Finish to confirm.

It will take just 1 minute depending upon your infra to increase after successful you can check the capacity.
In my case it was before 29.75GB & i have increases 10GB more & now it is 39.75GB.

That’s it you have successfully increased the datastore size.
