VUM is an vSphere Update Manager which is recommended tool from VMware for patching & updating the ESXi hosts. You can also upgrade VMware Tools & VM Hardware version using vSphere Update Manager.
In this series of VUM we have seen on how to install VUM & how to patch ESXi hosts using VUM. After installing VUM, VUM requires the network connectivity for downloading the patches & upgrades from the VMware download sources. If in your environment you are using Proxy server for internet connectivity then VUM has the functionality to configure proxy in the vSphere Update Manager so that you can provide the network connectivity using proxy server.
In this post we will see on how to configure Proxy in vSphere Update Manager:
Login to vSphere web client.
Go to vSphere Update Manager.
Choose the Update Manager Server.
Click Manage Tab.
Under settings select Download Settings.
Once you select download settings you will see Proxy settings option click on Edit button to edit the proxy settings.
Here provide the Proxy details such as proxy server & port.
If you have any authentication required for Proxy server then specify it.
You can also Test Connection for checking the connectivity with Proxy server.
Click OK to save & close.
That’s it now you have successfully configured Proxy server in VUM.
